COOPERSTOWN — Baseball legends of the past are set to return to Cooperstown on Saturday, where Doubleday Field will play host to a matchup of heroes at the annual Baseball Hall of Fame Classic.
The Father’s Day Weekend tradition will feature family-friendly programs throughout three days, highlighted by the seven-inning legends game at 2 p.m.
National Baseball Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez and Ozzie Smith headline the Hall of Fame Classic along side 20 additional retired big leaguers including two-time All-Star and 1984 World Series champion Darrell Evans, who was recently added to the Classic roster.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame Classic are available now in the Hall of Fame Museum Store or by calling 607-547-0397. Tickets can also be purchased at 9 a.m. on game day at the Doubleday Field parking lot, pricing at $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats.
The 2012 Baseball Hall of Fame Classic is co-organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum as well as the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.
Along with the Hall of Fame Classic, other activities planned for Classic Weekend include a Voices of the Game program with the six Hall of Fame legends, a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the Museum, the Youth Skills Clinic, and other unique programs throughout the Museum. The Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade beginning at noon Saturday on Main Street, as the game’s participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field. The Legends Hitting Contest will follow at 1 p.m.
