Madison Street joint pursuit ends with two in custody

A man and woman are in custody this morning following a joint pursuit by the Rome Police and the U.S. Marshals Monday afternoon.

Identities of the pair have not been released.

Detective Commander Timothy J. Bates said "there was a failure to comply" with law enforcers in Rome shortly after 2 p.m. Monday. A vehicle, operated by the female, refused to pull over along North Madison and other streets. The vehicle was eventually stopped, Bates said.

"An adult female is in custody in regards to this incident. She was the operator, and she is facing numerous charges," Bates said. "An adult male was also taken into custody."

The case is being investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force. Federal officials said more information would be released at a later date.
