Man gets three months for assault

A 25-year-old man who barged into another man’s apartment and grabbed him by the neck was sentenced to three months in county jail.

Jesse A. Moore, of 100 E. Garden St., was sentenced by City Court Judge John C. Gannon Monday to 90 days in jail and ordered to pay $250 in court fees on a charge of second-degree trespass. Two counts of second-degree harassment were dismissed.

Police said at 2:15 a.m. May 6, Moore walked into a 53-year-old man’s apartment on West Fox Street and refused to leave. In a statement to police, the resident said Moore was looking for the resident’s son, who did not live there. Police said Moore also grabbed the resident by the neck while he was there.

According to his statement, the resident was able to call a neighbor for help, who chased Moore out of the apartment. The neighbor called 9-1-1. Once in custody, police said Moore spit in the face of one of the officers at the Justice Building on North James Street.

Also in City Court:

¿ James M. Mercier, 23, of 520 W. Dominick St., was sentenced to one day in jail and was ordered to pay a $120 surcharge on one count of disorderly conduct.

Police said at 8:32 p.m. May 12, Mercier refused to stop shouting obscenities outside his residence.

¿ Bail was posted at $250 for Steven J. Miner, 33, of 9C Woodcreek Drive, charged with driving while intoxicated, breath test refusal and failure to stop for a stop sign. His case was adjourned to June 8.

Police said at 2:26 a.m. April 28, Miner was driving drunk northbound on Sixth Street and he ran a stop sign.

¿ Dale D. Blanchard, 20, of 118 E. Embargo St., was ordered to pay a $100 fine and $120 surcharge on one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.

State police said at 12:43 a.m. April 10, blanchard was found with 1.6 grams of marijuana in his pocket during a traffic stop.
