Westmo, Clinton drop football openers

The Westmoreland football team opened its season on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a 34-8 loss to Class D West rival Beaver River.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by quarterback David Piersall, who went 6-for-8 passing for 89 yards and one touchdown.

Piersall threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Caydn Patterson in the fourth quarter. Mike Alloggio added 81 yards rushing on eight carries and had two catches for 13 yards.

Defensively, Westmoreland was paced by Sean Klopfanstein with nine tackles, Aloggio had eight tackles and Dylan Elwood added seven tackles.

The Bulldogs travel to Sauquoit Valley on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.

The Clinton football squad began its season on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a 19-7 Class C East loss to host Holland Patent. Game details were unavailable.

The Warriors travel to Sauquoit Valley on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7.
