Clinton earns first win by defeating host Adirondack
Clinton beat Adirondack, 32-22, on the road for its first win of the season on Oct. 5.
Tanner Deveans returned as quarterback after missing two-and-a-half games. He hit Powers Lynch on a 13-yard passing score to tie the game at 8-8 after an Adirondack punt return for a touchdown.
Deveans also had two touchdown runs, one for 24 yards and one for eight.
Clinton coach Frank Williams credited the play of the offensive line — Gabe Callahan, Reed Lennon, Nick Kodsy, Griffin Seymour and Nate Thompson — who paved the way for 346 yards on the ground. The team scored three times on the ground, including Kody Groves’ 18-yard run late.
The Warriors also had a defensive score when Gabe Callahan got one of his two sacks in the end zone for a safety.
Adirondack’s two other touchdowns were by Branden Mooney, one a run from two yards out and another a 25-yard catch from Lance Allen.
Clinton is now 1-4 in the Class C East and 1-5 overall. They play host to Mount Markham at 2 p.m. on Oct. 13.
Adirondack is 0-5 in Class C East play and 0-6 overall. They will play host to Notre Dame at 2 p.m. on Oct. 13.
Westmoreland was held off the scoreboard in a 32-0 home loss to Onondaga on Oct. 6.
Mike Alloggio had 28 yards rushing and 18 yards receiving for the Bulldogs. David Piersall was 5-of-13 passing for 64 yards and an interception. Zach St. Peter caught two passes for 41 yards.
Defensively, Dylan Elwood had nine tackles for Westmoreland and Alloggio had seven. Javann Springer had thee interceptions for the Bulldogs.
Westmoreland is now 1-5 overall, 0-4 in the Class D West. The team will play at 1:30 p.m on Oct. 13 at home against Dolgeville in non-league action.
