Annual Bike Rodeo and Ice Cream Social held
CLINTON — Clinton Central School Parent Teacher Association hosted its annual Bike Rodeo and Ice Cream Social June 14 to celebrate the end of the school year and to thank volunteers who helped with PTA events throughout the year.
The Bike Rodeo is organized and run by the Utica Bike Rescue (http://uticabikerescue.org/). The purpose of the Bike Rodeo is to promote bicycle safety for children.
Volunteers from the Utica Bike Rescue conducted safety checks, such as how well children’s protective helmets fit and the air pressure in their tires. There was also a bike course for children to ride, where they had to stop for stop signs and look both ways before continuing. The children received a certificate for successfully completing the course.
According to Utica Bike Rescue. their mission is to promote bicycling as an affordable, effective, sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier and safer society. Utica Bike Rescue provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community in a variety of ways, focusing on children, students and lower-income households.
