Quilt show at library

CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., will host a quilt art show starting Tuesday, July 10.

A reception for Gail Strout’s exhibit, “Lacy Quilts,” will be held 5-7 p.m. at the library.

Other events and activities:

• Friends’ Annual Book Sale

Friday, July 6 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thousands of books, DVDs, puzzles, vinyl and collectibles in every subject will be available at low prices, with all proceeds to benefit the library. Volunteers are needed to help. Stop by the library to choose a shift. Service hours are available for high school students.

• Afternoon Movie: Friday, July 6 at 2 p.m.

Come watch a family-friendly film on the library’s big screen. Rated PG. Check the website for movie title.

• Monday Movies: July 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.

In July, the library’s Monday Movies are all adaptations of PBS’s Great American Reads. Check the website for movie title.

• Summer Jam: Tuesday, July 10

Musicians in grades 9-12 are invited to join Monk Rowe at noon for an interactive workshop. Learn improvisation while playing swing and rock music “off the page.” Elementary-age musicians and their parents can join at 3 p.m. All may attend a free concert on the library’s lawn at 4p.m. Pre-register at the library.

• Moreland The Magician: Wednesday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m.

Moreland is back with another hilarious magic show. Stick around after the performance to learn some tricks to try at home.

• LEGO Club: Friday, July 13 at 2 p.m.

Come play with the library’s LEGO collection.

• Great American Read Out: Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. through Sept. 27

Meet at the gazebo on the Village Green during the Clinton Farmer’s Market and hear selections from the 100 books chosen for PBS’s The Great American Read. Special guests will read short excerpts from the books. 

• Literary Pen Pals

The library will match local residents with a fellow book-lover from California, Montana, Maine or North Carolina to exchange letters. Organizers will provide participants with all the supplies needed and even mail the letters. Sign up at the library.

• Weekly Story Times

Wigglers for ages 0-2 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Movers and Shakers for ages 3-5 on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Farmer’s Market Story Time on the Village Green for all ages on Thursdays at 11 a.m.
