Great American Irish Festival July 27, 28

FRANKFORT — The Great American Irish Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28, at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds in Frankfort.

“Whether you’re Irish or Irish-for-the-weekend, hungry or thirsty, a fan of bagpipes or electric fiddles, into watching sports or competing in them, if you’re going solo or with the entire family, or whether you’re looking for spiritual guidance or some “retail therapy” —we’ve got you covered,” organizers said.

Great American Irish Festival, Inc., was established to be the primary fundraising arm for the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley. The festival organization has as its underlying purpose the furtherance of an appreciation and understanding of Irish/Celtic music, culture and history.

The festival is open Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are Friday: $15 ($18 at the gate), Saturday: $18 ($20 at the gate), Two-Day Pass: $28 (advance sale only), Weekend Campsite: $70-$80, free for children under 13 and all active military members with valid ID and immediate family.

Events include Whiskey Tasting, Sip n Paint, Irish Comedians, Bagpipe Competition, Northeast Junior Bagpipe Band Competition, Highland Games (Traditional Celtic Heavy Games), 5K Ranger Run, Irish Mass, Irish Cultural Building, Wee Zone, Wine/Wine Slushies, Zoomobile, GAIF Raffle and Food Drive.
