The Master Gardener Volunteer program decided in 1995 to develop the rose garden, the vegetable garden, a teaching pavilion, rock garden and beds for annuals, perennial garden, a shade garden and a butterfly garden.
The botanical gardens at the Cornell Cooperative Extension are carefully created to showcase plants for enjoyment, learning and use for the community, organizers said. Yearly, great numbers of school groups come to learn and interact with the Cooperative Extension’s environmental field trip programs especially utilizing the vegetable and herb gardens, the Butterfly house and the Nature Trail.
