DEC summer camp sign-ups to begin in January

Online registration for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation 2018 Summer Camps Program will open Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m., according to an announcement by the DEC.

Registration will be available online at the website: www.dec.ny.gov/education.

The cost for one week of camp is $350 per child aged 14-17, the announcement added.

Camp locations include Camp Colby in Saranac Lake; Camp DeBruce in Livingston Manor; Camp Rushford in Caneadea and Pack Forest in Warrensburg.

The camps operate for four seven-week sessions beginning June 24; Pack Forest operates for eight weeks.

Camp activities will include such topics as fishing, bird watching, fly-tying, archery, canoeing, hiking and hunter safety education.

Parents are encouraged to sign up early because camp registrations fill up early.
