Cosgrove lifts Colgate over Brown; coach Vaughan wins No. 400
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Freshman defenseman Trevor Cosgrove scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to lift the No. 19 ranked Colgate men’s hockey team to a 2-1 road victory over the Brown Bears.
With the win, head coach Don Vaughan became the 24th coach in Division I NCAA Ice Hockey history to record his 400th career victory. Vaughan is also the fourth ECAC Hockey coach in the league’s history to reach the 400-win milestone.
Freshman Josh McKechney scored his first career goal in recording a two-point night for the Raiders as he picked up the assist on Cosgrove’s game-winner.
Colgate goalie Colton Point made 37 saves in the win, improving the Raiders record to 10-7-4 overall, 6-2-1 in the ECAC.
Colgate returns to the ice tonight to continue its road trip as the Raiders take on the Yale Bulldogs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7.
