Colgate on brink of league title, tourney berth
LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Colgate men’s basketball team will be looking for an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament and its first Patriot League tournament title since 1996 with a win in the league championship game against host Bucknell tonight at 7:30.
Tonight’s appearance in the championship game marks the first for the Raiders since 2008. Colgate reached the title game with wins over Lafayette and Holy Cross.
The game will be on the CBS Sports Network and a live stream of the game will also be available on CBSSports.com. 93.9 WKXZ will also be broadcasting the game live on the radio, and the game can be heard nationally on Westwood One.
Colgate has recorded a program-best 19 wins this season and enters the game with a five-game winning streak, the longest in 10 years for the program. The Raiders are on the hunt for its third league title and first since 1996. Colgate is 2-3 all-time when playing Bucknell in the Patriot League Tournament, and 0-1 when playing the Bison in Lewisburg, Pa. This will be the first time that the Bison and Raiders have met in the final.
Bucknell won both of the regular season meetings against the Raiders, with the most recent coming via a buzzer-beating three, giving the Bison a 65-64 win on Feb. 12. The Bison also won on Jan. 15, defeating the Raiders 63-51.
