View offers beginner pottery workshops

OLD FORGE — View Arts in Old Forge has two upcoming Beginner Pottery Workshops on Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at 10 a.m.

The first workshop will focus on hand building pottery. Participants will create handmade ceramic ornaments and/or a hand built holiday tea bag dish. Potter Wendy Seifried will show participants how to create interesting textures and shapes to make fun holiday ornaments and tea bag dishes.

  • Skill level: Beginner
  • Time: 10 a.m. to noon
  • Cost: $30, $25 for View members

The second workshop will demonstrate the art of raku glazing and firing. Participants will glaze a premade piece of pottery and then perform raku firing. Raku is an ancient pottery process that involves a final firing over a wood flame. Each participant will leave with an original raku piece.

  • Skill level: Beginner
  • Time: 10 a.m. and lasting until all pieces are fired. Actual time per participants will average two to three hours depending on how many pieces.
