ONEIDA — The Kallet Civic Center, 159 Main St., is showing the watercolor paintings of Roberta Schiavi through Oct. 27.

The paintings will be shown in the Griffing Gallery 10-a.m.-2 p.m. weekdays and by appointment at 315-363-8525.

The Kallet will host a free reception for Schiavi Monday, Oct. 16 from 6-8 p.m.

Schiavi moved with her family from Massachusetts to Utica when she was 10. She began studying art at Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute. She later studied fine arts in Boston and received a graphic design degree fro Mohawk Valley Community College.

“I have bene a student at MWP for over 50 years,” Schiavi said. “Art has always been my escape and has brought me much satisfaction.”
