Bottle-Making Workshop Saturday at View

OLD FORGE — View, the multi-arts center at 3273 Route 28, will host its Whisky Mug and Bottle-Making Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10.

Cost for the workshop is $85 or $95 for guests. Cost includes all materials and firing. Class size is limited. Registration deadline is March 8. To register, go to ViewArts.org or call 315-369-6411. 

Experienced potter Joe Straka will lead the class. Straka is also the shop owner of Magpie Pottery in Harper’s Ferry, W. Va.

In the four-hour workshop, Straka will instruct students on how to make a bottle or vessel with a potter’s wheel. Students will also learn how to trim the foot of their creations using the thrown chuck method and how to pull the perfect handle. Glazing will be done at the students’ discretion after the bisque firing. The workshop is for those with advanced beginner to intermediate skill levels.
