Colonel Clete Goetz
Goetz receives Army promotion
Clete Goetz, formerly of Rome, was recently promoted to the rank of colonel in the Army.
Colonel Goetz became commander of Task Force Essayons on Sept. 17. As the Commander, he provides oversight of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers support to the Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) for Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq and Syria.
He commands a unit that provides planning, design, engineering, environmental, and construction contract administration services to support U.S. military operations. Task Force Essayons is headquartered in Camp Taji, Iraq, with offices in Iraq and Kuwait.
He is the son of Charles and Kathleen Goetz of Rome.
He is married to the former Beth Younker and they have three children. His family lives at Fort Hood, Texas.
Goetz is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic and Career Courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. He has degrees in Civil Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and the University of Missouri at Rolla as well as a Master’s of Science in Construction Engineering and Project Management from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal, as well as the Ranger tab, Sapper tab, and senior parachutist wings.
